The Excellent Performance Team offers the following courses at your pool or at your swimming club or swimschool. We are approved as an STA Approved Training Centre as well as being an RLSS IQL Approved Centre. 

 

STA Safety Award for Teachers

If you’re a swimming teacher, aqua aerobic instructor or school teacher and looking for a qualification that will allow you to provide safety cover for swimming sessions, this is the qualification for you!

On the course, you’ll learn basic rescue, first aid and resuscitation skills. Holding a rescue/safety award such as this is also a pre-requisite for our swimming teaching qualifications, so this may be included with your swimming teaching course (ask your course organiser for more details).

Training is in accordance with HSE publication Managing Health and Safety in Swimming Pools and British Standard BS EN 15288 Part 2, Safety Requirements for Operations
Regulated by Ofqual and Qualifications Wales
Will give you the confidence and knowledge to deal with an emergency that may occur during swimming lessons.
You’ll need to make sure you’ve met the following requirements before you attend your course:

Be at least 14 years of age
Be able to swim 25 metres
Learners who cannot swim 25 metres must be capable of wading, and effecting a rescue, in a pool with a depth no greater than chest height
Be able to surface dive and recover an object from the deepest part of the pool

 

RLSS The National Pool Lifeguard Course Level
The National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) is the most widely recognised lifeguard qualification in the UK & Ireland and is a recruitment requirement for a number of jobs from Pool Lifeguard to Centre Manager. On successful completion of the course you will be fully qualified to work as a Pool Lifeguard.

 

RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)

The NRASTC is a supervision and rescue qualification for teachers working on the poolside or in the water during programmed activities, such as a swimming lesson. It is suitable for teachers working in a wide range of swimming pools, including pools where the water is deeper than the teacher’s standing depth.

 

RLSS Aquatic Therapy Shallow Pool Rescue Award (ATSPRA)

The ATSPRA is a supervision and rescue qualification for therapists, teachers and support staff working on the poolside or in the water during activities such as, aquatic therapy or therapeutic exercise/play. The qualification is suitable for use in shallow pools where the rescuer will not be required to swim to perform a rescue, with water no deeper than the rescuers chest depth.
